The FMA is the independent financial market supervisory authority of Liechtenstein, ensuring the stability and credibility of the financial market, the protection of clients, and the prevention and prosecution of abuse. As an integrated supervisory authority, it supervises all financial market participants in the Liechtenstein financial center and employs about 80 people.
The FMA ensures the implementation of international supervisory standards and, on behalf of the Government, participates in the preparation of financial market legislation. It promotes sustainable regulation that ensures efficient and effective supervision.
The FMA is represented in all relevant supervisory organizations at the global and European level. With its recognition as an equivalent supervisory authority, the FMA makes an important contribution to securing market access for Liechtenstein financial intermediaries. At the national level, the FMA especially cultivates a close exchange among business and professional organizations. The FMA is available for inquiries by persons and entities interested in offering services as financial intermediaries in Liechtenstein.
