The Association of Liechtenstein Charitable Foundations e.V. (VLGS) was established in 2010 and represents the interests of public-benefit foundations in Liechtenstein. It serves as a partner for authorities and organizations and promotes the reputation of Liechtenstein as a foundation center both at home and abroad. It participates in the development of legislation and promotes research on issues relating to foundation law.
The Association aims to serve as a network among foundations and to promote cooperation with other associations in Liechtenstein and abroad. Public-benefit foundations make a considerable contribution to the reputation of Liechtenstein as a financial center and business location. The VLGS supports the Government's efforts to develop philanthropy as an important pillar of the country's location policy.
Membership in the Association is open to public-benefit foundations under Liechtenstein law which are domiciled in Liechtenstein, whose purpose is exclusively and irrevocably public-benefit, which have their own assets, which employ their assets or the income derived therefrom for public-benefit purposes, which have an external auditor in accordance with the law on foundations, and whose activities do not in principle depend on donations or fundraising.
