Carrying out activities laid down in Art. 180a PGR requires a permit from the Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority (FMA). The FMA also supervises the persons according to 180a Act and keeps a register of all self-employed (S for selbständig) and employed (US for unselbständig) permit holders. The permit is personal and cannot be transferred to any third party.
To safeguard the interests of the persons in terms of the 180a Act, the VP180a (Association of the Persons According to 180a Act) was formed in 2001. The association represents the interests of the persons in terms of the 180a Act vis-à-vis public authorities and third parties, takes part in legislation where it specifically concerns fields of activity laid down in Art. 180a PGR, and organises seminars for the training and further education of its members.
